Toys - Lego

If you're relatively young, Lego is this clarify collection of toys that you could make just about whatever from. The kits that are available today are just mind boggling. But it wasn't all the time like that. There was a time when Lego didn't have sets. They were just a bunch of blocks that you put together any way you liked. As a matter of fact, Lego goes a lot farther back than most habitancy realize.

Even though Lego technically came into being in 1916, the first Lego toys were not made until 1932. Their first toys were cars, trucks and piggy banks. They were nothing like what we're used to today. The actual Lego name wasn't lawful until 1934. It came from a Danish phrase that meant "play well". The founder of Lego, Kirk Christiansen, was known as a very kind hearted man who wanted to make toys that poorer children could afford. This was the main presuppose that he even went into the business.

Lego Love

The first Lego construction brick toys that we're well-known with today weren't made until 1947. One of the first of these toys was a truck that you could put together and then take apart to put back together again. The bricks snapped together. The blocks were made out of cellulose acetate as opposed to the common wooden bricks that most other toys were made from. In 1953 these bricks were given the lawful name "Lego Bricks".

In the 1950s the bricks were improved upon because the quality of the blocks to lock together was limited. Hollow tubes were added to the underside of the bricks to help them lock together a minute better. This also added some much needed keep to these bricks. Finally, in 1958, Christiansen died. The company practically died with him. But his partner decided to go on and continue to run the company. Otherwise this may have been the end of Lego.

In the 1960s we were given the first Lego wheels that could be added to the cars and trucks. Before these wheels were created the car and truck tires were blocks, just like the rest of the vehicle. while that time, Lego started to make toys that were targeted to preschoolers. This line went over very well with the kids. ultimately in 1963, the blocks were made out of Abs plastic and are still made from this plastic even today. Then in 1964, for the very first time, study manuals were provided for their toys.

In 1969 an offshoot of Lego, the Duplo system, can to be. These blocks were much bigger than the Lego blocks, which made them safer for young children, the main presuppose they were made in the first place. However, even though the Duplo ideas was made for small kids, the two systems are compatible with each other and can be mixed together.

Over the next 30 plus years, the Lego ideas became very elaborate. Whole kits depicting assorted scenes could be bought and put together such as the 1988 model of London, the 1989 Pirate series and more recently, the Knights Kingdom in 2004.

Today, Lego is one of the largest manufacturers of children's toys in the whole world. And just think, it all started from a bunch of plastic blocks.

Lego Toy construction Sets and the Batman Franchise Strategy

Since its modest beginnings in 1932, the Lego company continues to make adults and children alike happy with new play sets being continuously released in the toy market. Lego is favorite with many adults for purely nostalgic reasons, while kids plainly love playing with the toy sets while unknowingly developing their construction skills! The nostalgia angle is a great marketing pitch, but to be able to survive, Lego must do more than to depend on nostalgia. Lego has always been known for the innovations in its products and the system utilized to make these products, but without a solid offering, it could very well remain on the sidelines while other toy clubs rise to the top. Lego executives understand this situation and have made aggressive marketing and yield campaigns promoting the products and the brand.

Lego has released thousands of themed play sets over the years, along with dinosaurs, medieval castles, robots, and train sets, to name a few. While this surly helped Lego capture a larger store share, the company showed great vision and additional widened its lead in the construction toy store by partnering with clubs that own super franchises such as Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, parasite Bob Squarepants, Star Wars, and, of course, Batman. These franchises were transformed as Lego toy construction sets using toy bricks, blocks, and pieces, much to the delight of both movie enthusiasts and Lego buffs.

Lego Love

One of the most profitable among the thriving franchises that have made it to the Lego ranks is Batman. Batman sets are scenes from Marvel comic book's movies and cartoons. Lego has turned famed Batman scenes and locations, as well as vehicles, into construction sets that provide hours of entertainment. Of all the vehicle sets the Batmobile is, of course, the most popular. Other Lego sets are Robin's Scuba Jet, the Penguin's submarine and Mr. Freeze's jeep. What are even cooler are the Batman mini-figures that come with these vehicles. This is but a few of the Lego Batman sets ready today.

Batman is a very profitable franchise that really needs no promotion. However, the partnership with Lego was a wise move on the part of both clubs as they are able to reap the benefits from each other's loyal following. A prime example of the ensue of this strategic alliance is that Lego collectors and Batman memorabilia collectors can be one and the same. A Batman accumulator who collects whatever Batman is also likely to buy Lego as long as Batman is the theme. It won't matter what type of play set it is, as long as it's Batman related. This buying behavior applies to Lego collectors as well. The Batman goods and Lego marriage means more than just short-term profits. One has to take into inventory the long-term aspect of the merger. The more Batman products Lego releases, the higher the probability for increased customers and profits.

Lego Batman sets will always be favorite with Lego enthusiasts and collectors alike. It also stands to theorize that if a parent is into, whether or Batman and Lego, the chances of their kids being into the Lego hobby is likely as well. This chronic cycle is a wining situation for the buyer and the marketplace as well!

Star Wars Lego Preview - Set 10215 Ucs Jedi Starfighter

Lego has a way of surprising even the most ardent fans. So in a way when they announced their late 2010 lineup more than a few Star Wars fans were wondering what the unannounced set would be. They didn't have long to find out.

The last Star Wars Lego set to be released in 2010 (as far as we know) is the greatest Collector's Series Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter. First featured in assault of the Clones this sleek red and white space ship, also known as the Delta-7 Aethersprite-class light interceptor, is the ship of a Jedi Knight; sleek, fast and with an intuitive operate system.

Lego Love

Normally used for peaceful missions by the Jedi Knights the starfighter did come with twin-barrel laser cannons that Obi-Wan found came in very handy in his chase of Jango Fett. The starfighter required an external hyperdrive ring to tour in hyperspace, and its omission from this Lego set is perhaps one thing Lego could have improved on first discern at the model.

With 676 pieces it is one of the smaller Ucs models released by Lego, compared to 2010's other Ucs release, the Imperial Shuttle which has over 2500 pieces. It measures 9 in (23 cm) high on stand, 18" (47 cm) long and 9" (22 cm) wide and is priced to sell at which seems quite high given the lack of minifigures and piece count.

It comes with a detailed cockpit and wing mounted R4-P17 astromech droid dome that rotates, the latter no doubt will be a piece prized by fans who make their own models as it is quite a bit larger than other astromech droid heads Lego has previously released. The model also comes with a display stand and plaque for display.

Given the price point fans may wait for this model to go on sale before adding it to their collection but despite that minor quibble, it is a nice expanding to the Star Wars range.
